A new update

Alright. A lot has happened since last.

1st. pass animatic is complete
1st. pass colorscript is complete
character modeling is at 98%
Prop modeling is about 60%
Rigging is progressing slowly but steadily.

The animatic is running at 3.30 right now, which is a nice length.
But I would like to do at least one more pass on the animatic, which probably results in both adding and cutting stuff.

Here is a render of a plane I've modeled. It's a spitfire!

An introduction

What the heck is project:Spitfire you might ask.
Well, it is hopefully a once-to-be animated short film.

And this blog is sort of a documentation of this creation.

It is a project that has been brewing in my head for a little more than a year now, and since it still seems very intersting to me, I take that as a good sign.
The story is very universal yet personal.
About overcombing your fears/short comings, to enable your self to be or do what you want.

The story is lead by a nine year old boy, with a dream of becoming a pilot.

Where is the story now?

It is still in the very early stages.
The script is written! And although far from perfect, it captures the story as I want it. I am both happy and proud of the story as it is written. And this gives me confidence moving forward into storyboard and asset creation, that the basic foundation is solid.

A lot has been storyboard, but a lot still has not.
Length wise I am aiming for just below or around four minutes. Which is perfectly doable, if I am wise about my shots, and tight about my editing.

Asset creation wise?
The main character is pretty much modeled. Pretty much means that all the elements are there. They just need finetuning, shape tweaking, uvs and details.

A few other random stuff has been modeled as well, but I'd like to keep those in the dark for now.

Look wise I am far from settled at this point. I want it to look pretty, but also find a realistic place to land, where it is doable both technically and artisticly (complexity in shading/lighting in relation to rendertimes for instance)

So to wrap up this introductory post, the story is down, it works and I am happy with it.
Some parts, maybe 20% has been storyboarded, a lot of modeling has been done.
But I am still looking for the right style to hit.

For next time I promise I will have pictures!

AND WELCOME!
